We have conducted several computer awareness programmes for children of scheduled caste and tribes and slum dewellers, who do not have access to modern amenities. As a first step we have formed a mobile unit complete with computers and teachers (from among our volunteers), who will go and teach at their premises twice in a week so that children can get the scope to know what is a computer, which will surely enhance their outlook.

Skill Development Programs :

One of our key strategies during the last five years, has been to conduct and organize various skill development programs to equip different target groups with specialized skills so that they become employable.
Some of the target groups for which the training programs were designed are as per below:

• Under matric
• Under graduates
• Engineering students
• Graduates – any discipline
• Diploma and ITIs

And, some of the training programs for the social sector are highlighted below:

1. Vocational training programs for under matric
2. Data-entry and DTP operators training for under graduates
3. Total station survey training for Diploma and ITI pass-outs
4. Soil testing training for science graduates
5. CAD training for engineering students
6. Computer fundamental and basic programming skills training for school children
7. Cell phone repair training
8. Computer hardware and networking fundamentals training for PGDCA students

These programs were found to be very effective, popular and useful. Quite a few number of our trainees have been gainfully employed.

Unique training programs on Total Station Survey and Soil Testing

In order to increase employability of ITI and Diploma (Engg) pass outs, we have organized several training programs in Total-station survey and soil testing which are highly on demand in the construction industry. Construction of roads, flyovers, bridges, industrial building, power plants are rampant in our state for the past several years and there is a huge gap between demand and supply of such technicians. We even encouraged science graduates and under graduates with strong mathematical skills to undergo these trainings and almost all of them who completed the training program and passed our tests, were absorbed by by various infrastructure companies.

We organized these trainings with support from ARKITECHNO, a Bhubaneswar based construction company and we want to take this opportunity to acknowledge their co-operation. Their facilities were very handy in imparting real-life experience to our students
